In grade school, I read 1984, Huck Finn, Brave New World, Bridge to Terabithia, Diary of Anne Frank, Fahrenheit 451, Farewell to Arms, Grapes of Wrath, Great Gatsby, Jabberwocky (good lord), and I think Where the Wild Things Are.
Some people... sheesh. If we ban books that show how racist or whatever we used to be, how the heck are we supposed to learn from it? Covering it up doesn't make it go away. This is another example of why I support PARENTING instead of, oh, MAKING EVERYONE ELSE SUFFER cuz your little brat mimics the gun shooting on the show he watches every time you plant him in front of the TV while you paint your nails.
... *snort* The INNAPROPRIATE TOPIC OF DEATH!! :O :O :O God forbid we expose our kids to DEATH, and from natural causes or something tame like that, too. Someone being dead isn't that big a deal. Them being dead and BLOODY and MANGLED... now that's bad. But come on... someone dying in a hospital bed? It's not that bad!
Radical conservatives really are the bane of my existence.

I'm talking about my Psych classes. I find them interesting, but I really just ... somehow don't care. I want to care, very much so, but FARK. STUDY. DO HOMEWORK. DO ANYTHING. Why the hell can't I motivate myself?
Sometimes I wonder, but then I stop and think of what I really want, deep down. I really want to be in art college perfecting my skills and learning to become a traditional animator. That's what I really, really want. I've wanted it since elementary school. I guess with Mom giving me a hard time about finances, the idea of getting a student loan is becoming more and more likely. I can't stand being in debt, which is why I avoided it in the first place. But... I'm wondering if it's making me want to just go for broke and go to art college like I really want, and it's somehow affecting my performance in Psychology.
Psych is interesting, but I just have the instinct of an animator. Bringing cartoon characters to life--ugh, so awesome. I guess I joined Psych as a way to cheaply get my degree in a less artsy profession that could actually earn me decent money in the future. But it's like... there's a reason why I didn't just become a Business major. It's boring to me. Psych is more interesting, but god, some of the stuff... BORING. SO, SO BORING. Stats... boring! Research methods... boring! Neuroscience... BORING. I don't give a shit about this stuff. I care about interpersonal and intrapersonal innerworkings. What's fun about artwork is that you can express what you see in that sort of stuff while utilizing it as a creative outlet.
I'm pretty much angsting because I had a test today, and I tried to get myself to study for it, but damn. I really wish I knew what was wrong. The above paragraphs are all speculation, really. I really don't want to flunk. I want to do well! And I have the motivation to an extent, but... I just lack will power or something. Another reason why I think art college would work well for me. Drawing doesn't take will power. Heck, I draw when I'm supposed to be studying.
Goddang Psych, I mean, SHEESH. "What symbol do we use to calculate blah blah blah in a blah test?" WHO CARES? It's all written down for us anyway! Why do we have to memorize all that shit? Why do we have to memorize ONE STINKIN' SENTENCE in a book out of... god.... 5 chapters, which are about 30 pages each... you do the math! That's such bull! If I did get a job in psych (social worker, woot), I'm not going to have to constantly go back to THIS ONE STINKIN' BOOK to quote ONE GENERIC SENTENCE for any given situation!
Teach me how to draw perspective... heh... that's something I can use.

NiGHTS sequel.... it's not a dream? It's really happening? After a decade of being a total NiGHTS whore?

May it be known that Mike and I drove up to Irvine Tuesday night, slept in, then made the rest of the trip to Six Flags on Wednesday. Had FUN, though it should be noted that Deja-Vu was closed AGAIN, Superman broke down AGAIN, and Tatsu KICKS ASS. If you live in So. Cal. and like roller coasters, Tatsu is the shiznit. Go ride it.
Oh, and they had a carnival booth or two up and about that had Sonic plushies. I spazzed. Mike was embarrassed to be with me. He cursed the fates that he came with me, lol. Nah, I kid. I was going bonkers, though. So he tried to win one for me. Well, we tried, but didn't win anything, so we thought we'd pareuse the stores. Frick, they had SPONGEBOB stuff, but not Sonic? WTF? But among their endless supply of Looney Tunes and DC Comics merchandise, there was this holy temple display of cool Nintendo/Simpsons/Family Guy merchandise. Alas, no Sonic, but still, NINTENDO. SWEET.
They had this bright green Link shirt, and Mike loooooooooves likes LoZ, so I paid for half of it for him. Now he has his very first FLUORESCENT BRIGHT ZOMG MY EYES green-colored shirt. Yay! And it's unique, too. I haven't seen a shirt like that before or since, but then again, it's only been a few days.
Soooo... we walked the park some more, failed to find any Sonic stuff for sale. I was sad. Mike felt bad for me. So, while we were hopping from ride to ride, we circled the park and came back to the first carnival booth, and Mike won me ... heeee... not just a prize, but a MEDIUM SIZED prize, which is actually pretty damn big, and considering the type of carnival game, pretty miraculous. I got a stuffed Knuckles and it's HUGE! :D But I wanted a stuffed Tails (all they had was Tails for a small prize), so we took another shot, and I got one of those, too!! HOLY SHIT.
Then Steph lived happily ever after.
We were going to bring a camera and take more pictures of the two of us together, but both Mike and I forgot our cameras. Oh well... some other time.
Below: No brag, just SQUEE!
Knux sez: CLEAN YO' COUCH, BITCH.
( more behind cut )
Oh, and back to LoZ... for the past few weekends and majority of this week (Spring break), Mike and I have been reliving our childhood through NES games. So far we've played Mario 1, Mario 3, TMNT: The Arcade Game, and... uh... oh yeah, Mega Man 3 all the way through. We're currently in the process of beating Legend of Zelda, which I've never played, and plan on playing Mega Man 2, LoZ: Link to the Past, and SMB 2 pretty soon. I never thought such primative graphics could entertain me so much! ........ Well, yes I did, because they used to and still do... but still! NES graphics engine FTW.
TMNT review. Take with a grain of salt.
- kids. So many DAMN kids screaming (kinda) and chattering and stating the obvious and ARGH, SHUT UP. Next time, I'm going after 10pm so I don't have to put up with that bull. Can't stand kids, really.
- Don got the shaft big time as far as character development and screentime go. I love Don. :(
- April = IMVU avatar.
- April/Casey ...... dun buy it. The script gave me no reason to believe they were really together except for them saying so (i.e. if someone was watching the movie in a foreign language, the only sign you'd get that they were an item is at the end of the movie, and even THAT felt contrived.)
- April ...... a ninja, and a BETTER ninja than ALL those foot soldiers? Gimme a frickin' break. But I haven't really read the comics (I have one out of, what, 100s?), so maybe she DOES become a psycho good ninja. I don't believe it, though.
- Michaelangelo's only purpose, pretty much, was comic relief. Come on... he's more than that, and he's NOT as stupid as they played him. At least in the first movie, he had enough character to shed a tear for Splinter. And his jokes were actually FUNNY.
- Um... monsters? WHERE did all the monsters come from, WHY were they suddenly all in NYC, and HOW COME they were only NOW wreaking havoc and not, say, for the past few millenia? Did I miss it, or did they just not touch on those topics at all? Oh, and how does gathering monsters = closing dimentional portal?
- Winters = Mr. Incredible. I SWEAR, if you go see the movie, LOOK.
What really gets me is that they gave Raph and Leo SO much screentime and Mike and Don SO LITTLE. Aren't they a team? Am I mistaken in thinking they're all equals, save Leo being the leader? Am I wrong to think they all have something to contribute to the team?
Oh, and the whole thing seemed rushed. Proof-reading is your friend, kids. And... reusing old lines from previous movies? Good idea, poorly executed, IMO. "And I thought insurance salesmen were pushy." > "And I thought girl scouts were pushy." I have never known ANY girl scouts that were pushy. It would've been better had the line been left in tact. At least they'd be reusing a line I actually LIKED. But then again, they weren't exactly writing the film for me, so...
The "high sticking" comment? Applicable in the context used in the first movie. SOUNDS STUPID in the context it was used in in this movie.
Overall, disappointment. I think I would've liked it better under different circumstances, though. I'm considering going to see it again, and WITHOUT the obnoxious kids this time. They had me so strung out that I was just miffed about everything.
Oh, the animation was good. Good lighting, good texturing, fluid movements, only a few lipsynching issues.
EDIT: WTF?? Why were nunchucks not allowed on television in the UK in the 90s?? That sounds absolutely rediculous to me.
EDIT #2: WTF!!! Ninjas are taboo in the UK? Why??

The Everything Test
There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

I think I'm more artistically minded than engineering minded. And rofl, wtf, 100% adventurous? I'd like to know where they got that idea. Other than that, I'd say it's quite accurate. Liberals for the win!

I dreamt I was in New York, and there was a cable car transport whose cable was so old that it was starting to sag a bit... and when a car went by, it ran into a crane, which tipped over and caused this big domino effect where the car crashed, buildings fell on top of each other, and general havoc ensued.
I witnessed the first occurance, but then it just kept happening over and over again. I musta been lucid dreaming because I decided I wanted to fly, so I flew up to the crane to try to prevent it from happening again, but I was always too slow. After a few tries, I decided flapping my arms to fly was too tiring, so now I'd just float.
After deciding the time loop I was stuck in left me too little time to prevent it from happening, I instead went and tried to save my loved ones in the buildings that toppled. We were too slow and stuff eventually fell on us, but such that we'd avoid getting smushed by holes in the ceiling landing on us instead of the actual concrete ceiling, if that makes any sense.
Then my dream shifted and some people and I were stuck on an elevator in a really tall building, going from random floor number to random floor number, probably running from something, I dunno.
Theeeeen I dreamt I was attending some class near San Pasqual High School, which is the high school I always seem to dream about, not my own or the other in our city. I remember parking my car, and upon arriving at the study group, discovering that they were handing out prizes for people for attending. I was like... woo, big woop. One of the boxes contained a 6-piece set of bras, rofl, in rainbow colors. But then the last box they handed out contained a bunch of Sonic stuff, like a calendar and Sonic aprin (wtf) and games.
I was lucky enough to get the Sonic one, so I was thrilled, rofl. There was another guy in the room who was also a Sonic fan and got all excited, too. After I got bored, I decided to take off, and that guy followed me. He was like, "You like Sonic, too?" and gave me a kiss. It was... freaky, lol. There were two trading cards in the box, so I gave him one to be nice.
Then, at my car, I got recruited to help build a house across the street. I was like... uhhh, how the heck am I supposed to know what to do? But all the other volunteers seemed to know, most of whom were college girls, lol, so I just went along with it all. We built that thing hella fast. It looked like something outta Trading Spaces, but it had 6 stories and a ton of rooms and bathrooms.
The end.
Dreams are frickin' weird. Dude, I need a dream icon. ROFL, hell, I'll just use one I never use.

Haha, I love Kyle. Redheads win at life.
Holy crap, I've been so busy with school this week, and it's tiring me out. I had a research proposal due Tuesday, which I stayed up all night working on on Monday. Then I discovered I had a test later on Tuesday, so I had to cram super-fast between classes. Wednesday I could barely stay awake in French, but I sorta woke up when the teacher asked me what animal I'd like to be, and when I told her a cheetah, she thought I said chimpanzee, so that was pretty embarrassing.
Then after class today, I slept until 6. Now I can't sleep. There's irony in there somewhere, I know it.
Cramps started on Tuesday last week, in case I wanna reference this post, I'll be able to chart my cycles.
I had a lot of weird dreams last night/today, so I'm feeling pretty amorous and can't wait for Mike to come down. First dream was about, like, a lazer tag fight between me and all my old classmates. Second one was about me and the neighbor kids dressing up in disguises to evade some evil bad guy, and the third dream involved my extended family on a houseboat on the edge of the world or something.
So now, naturally, I'm missing each of these groups of people and wondering what they've been up to.
Oh, and mom wants me to sorta get my social phobia fixed. I don't see that happening, but it's worth a try. When I can remember being afraid of people since I was 4, that's... kind of a sign that it's more deeply rooted than one would hope.
Sex is still painful. I have to go in to get a proper annual soon. I really hope I don't have some sort of abrasion in there that won't heal. Cuz... man, it STINGS.
Also-- Zach Braff is my celebrity boyfriend.

But Mike's at tennis or something right now and isn't available, so back to LJ I go.
Y'know, over Winter break, Mike and I had some issues we had to deal with. I chalk it up to insecurity and failure to communicate, for the most part, on both our ends. Typical stuff you go through when you love somebody. But the way we acted around each other when we were fighting made my mom worry that I was getting into a potentially abusive relationship. I thought it was feasible at first because... well, I'm dense like that and need people to point out some things to me.
She gave me a book to read called "Shattered Dreams" about a lady who married a guy who turned out to be physically and emotionally abusive and what she had to go through during their marriage. I'm almost done with it, and I think it's really helped me put things into perspective better than anyone else could by just telling them about it.
And... well, it's like, the more I read, the more Mike seemed LESS controlling. I can see how someone might piece his reactions together to be sorta controlling, but... meh, I think half of it is my perspective on things. But... hell, he is NOTHING like the guy in that book. Mike gets unhappy about stuff, mostly when we're misunderstanding each other, but... man, John, the name of the guy in the book, goes frickin' nuts. He uses demeaning language and long, painful silences to manipulate this poor lady. Mike's not like that at all. Mike wants us to work things out together, to clarify what we're not getting, and he never pins all the blame on me. Hell, he doesn't even really pin blame, period.
Blah blah blah, anyway... I was cleaning up the dishes tonight after dinner, and there was a used ziploc bag in the sink. I did what mom used to do when we had wet, drippy ziploc bags-- I hung it on the faucet. That way the water doesn't drip into the crevices on our counter and make a mess, and we can clean it later and reuse it. Well, Robert did NOT like that. He squawked at me about why I'd do that. I told him why. He told me I shouldn't be putting it on the place where we get our fresh water. ... Uh... yeah. I asked him where I should put it, and he nastily told me to "put it in [my] room."
I don't think Mom liked him saying that, cuz she tsk'd or something, I forget. But I was ready to tear up and retreated to my room before that could happen in his presence.
And... y'know, it's like... I wouldn't really have thought Robert to be abusive, but he sure fits the bill of this abusive guy in the book better than Mike does. I don't have to avoid Mike out of fear of ticking him off and getting crap from him like I got from Robert. I don't have to wait until he goes to bed to fix something (i.e. the internet. Why the HECK does he unplug it?? What's the point?). I can talk to Mike openly. I gotta watch most of what I say around Robert to avoid his harsh criticism in the case that he's in a bad mood. Flying fuck, Mike is actually NICE to me if I screw up.
I don't like having to hide in my room. It's not fun. I prefer to stay in my room, but hiding... that's lame.
