lunabuna: (wolf's rain - what.. this? uh.. er... no)
1. How old will you be in 12 months?
24

2. Do you think you'll be married by then?
Highly, HIGHTLY doubtful.

3. What do you look forward to most in the next 3 months?
Absolutely nothing. How about... finding out if I've been kicked from my college or not? Or getting a new summer job? Or paying my likely-to-be-hiked-like-mad car insurance? WOOPEE.

4. Who was the last person you called?
Mike

5. Who was the last person to call you?
Mike

6. Do you prefer to call or text?
Depends on the person and if I'm used to calling them or not.

7. Do you have any pets?
Elwyn and Trixie. Elwyn's under the guest room bed because it's too hot, apparently.

8. What were you doing at 12am last night?
Going to sleep.

9. parents separated/divorced/married?
Divorced since 1990.

10. When is the last time you saw your mom?
ROFL, last night.

11. What happened at 11:00a.m.?
I dunno, I'm not psychic! XP

12. How many states have you lived in?
Two.

13. How many cities/towns have you lived in?
Two.

14. Do you prefer shoes, socks, or bare feet?
Uh... shoes when it's not rediculously hot, socks when it's cold, and bare feet when it's hot.

15. Are you a social person?
Fuck no.  I've got Avoidant Personality Disorder and it's seeped into my online sociability.

16. What was the last thing you ate?
Apple Cinnamon Cheerios.

17. Favorite ice cream?
Cookies & Cream.

18. What is your favorite dessert?
Probably Mom's awesome cheesecake.

19. What is your favorite TV show?
God... make me choose... X-Files, E.R., Sonic the Hedgehog, Scrubs, ........ screw it, look at my interests.

20. What kind of jelly do you like on your PB & J sandwich?
Something red. But I don't like PB & J sandwiches.  I like 'em only if they also have butter. So that'd make it... PB, B & J.

21. Do you like coffee?
Limited to Starbucks' White Mochas.

22. How many glasses of water a day do you drink on average?
ROFL... well, um... less than one. I drink a lot of skim milk and Crystal Lite, if we have some.

23. What do you drink in the morning?
milk

24. Do you sleep on a certain side of the bed?
Nope. My bed has a sort of indentation in the middle now and I sorta end up rolling into it, lol.

25. Do you know how to play poker?
Yep, but I forget what trumps other hands.

26. Do you like to cuddle?
You betcha.

27. Any plans for this weekend?
Work. Study for finals. Maybe see Mike. Nothing special.

28. Do you eat out or at home more often?
At home. I'm poor.

29. Have you ever smoked?
Nope.  Well, Dad let me try a cigarette once when I was... what, like... 6 or something, and I coughed and hacked and went bonkers. Does that count? He did it to deter me, and it worked.

30. Have you ever been in an ambulance?
Newp.

31. Do you prefer an ocean or a pool?
Pool. I can't stand the smell of the ocean, which you'd think I'd have gotten used to by now, considering I've lived in So. Cal my entire conscious life.

32. Do you prefer a window seat or an aisle seat?
Window.

33. Do you know how to drive a stick shift?
Um... well, no. I know how it works, does that count?

34. What is your favorite thing to spend money on?
Computer upgrades or games, and videogame stuffs. But primarily I love buying Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise, except that there's hardly ever anything to buy.

35. Do you wear any jewelry 24/7?
If anything, only my studded earrings, but I lost the back to one awhile ago and have gone earringless for months.

36. Do you speak any other language?
Je parle un peu de francais.

37. Can you roll your tongue?
Yup.

38. Who is the funniest person you know?
No idea.

39. Do you sleep with stuffed animals?
Haha... I only stopped towards the end of high school, and I still do occasionally when I'm really depressed or lonely.

40. What is the main ring tone on your phone?
Um... considering Mike is usually the one who calls me the most, it's Clocks.  But my default ringer is some random tone that came with my phone.

41. Do you still have clothes from when you were little?
Well... from when I was younger.  I used to wear big tee-shirts, so a lot of them still fit. If you consider being baggy as hell "fitting."

42. What is the color of your bedroom walls?
white-something.

43. Do you shut off the water when you brush your teeth?
Yeah. Why leave it running? If you're washing your hands, I can see why you'd want to leave it on (to save all the soapy crap from seeping over the handles), but while brushing your teeth? You've got a spare hand. Use it!

44. Do you think Myspace is harmful?
WTH? Harmful? No, not really. Screwed up? Yes.

45. Do you like overly sensitive People?
Depends on how they act when they're offended.

Oops, the end.

That's news.

Okay, if I get a Wii... how much should I expect to spend to make it usable?  I want to get Sonic atSR.  Am I going to need to spend an extra hundred on a memory card or something? If I wanna have Wii friends, does that require some sort of adapter, etc.

Cuz I've got a $150 gift card to Fry's that I want to use, but I only have a limited budget thereafter.

The fact that Pokemon, NiGHTS' sequel (OH GOD FINALLY), the better Next-Gen Sonic game (according to user reviews), and Smash Bros. are all going on the Wii pushed me to cave.  Though I am tempted to instead get a DS with Pearl, except that I hardly ever play portable game consoles.

Sonic and the Secret Rings and/or any other Wii game out right now or due out in the next month:

Worth getting a Wii, or not good enough to warant waiting until the price drops?

Mike and I really, really liked Spider-man 3.  I'll leave it at that.

Heh, and it should be noted that while we were tapping our feet through the commercials and previews, I explained to him my disgust with the Harry Potter franchise and fandom (parts of it, anyway-- those of you on my FList are cool).  He actually put Ron/Hermione in a light that made sense to me.  'Course, it didn't change how I felt about it, but at least it seems clearer to me now.  I'll still never support a 'ship where the two characters bicker and belittle each other so much.  That's not what my idea of love is at all.  And that's how I see R/Hr, sexual tension or not.

Aaaaanyway, I'm so frickin' pooped and my allergies are acting up. I didn't even KNOW I had allergies! Ugh, need eyedrops...
lunabuna: (pokemon - articuno's pretty)
Man oh man... those people at GameFreak come out with uglier and uglier pokemon every generation, I swear. It's like a competition! "Hey man, bet you my created pokemon will get voted ugliest by fans!"

Jynx
Golbat (oh god, the HORROR that was the red/blue version sprite! ;_;)
Quagsire
Piloswine
Lombre (especially if it's a frickin' female)
Pelipper
Nosepass
Mawile (cut off that uglyass maw and it's fine)
Huntail
Bastiodon
Purugly
Drapion
Abomasnow
Tangrowth
Electivire
Mamoswine
Probopass (MOMMY WHY)
Giratina

So much ugly... I purposefully don't have any of these guys on my team simply because I couldn't stand my eyes bleeding every time I play.

Articuno has yet to be surpassed as my fav. :3

For those of you interested in the study my group conducted, here are the results in plain English:

Depression is "related" to loneliness, shyness is "related" to loneliness, depression is "related" to shyness, and all three are linked, which means if one goes up, the others are most likely going to go up, too.  By "up," I mean like more depressed, more lonely, that sorta thing.

Big surprise. XP This study has been done a ton of times before, apparently, but hey, it was good practice.

Hey guys? If any of you took my survey and did so anonymously, could you do me a big favor? Post your gender and age.  I forgot to ask for that when I put the survey up the first time and it's kind of imperitive.

Just post anonymously again. I'll match up IP numbers with survey answers. Thanks!

You can post here or in reply to the original thread.

TAKE MY SURVEY, PLEASE

Guys, could you take a moment of your time and do this survey for me? I need it for class tomorrow and I didn't realize I needed it so soon, so PLEASE help me by taking it real fast! Just copy/paste the thing and your responses into a comment.

I've set comments to screen so no one can see your entries, and you're more than welcome to take it anonymously if you so desire.

EDIT: Thank you SOOOO much, guys! I had just enough surveys done in time today. Your effort is greatly appreciated, and I'd give you all hugs if I knew who half of you are, lol! You're still welcome to take this. I just needed 15 by 10 o'clock today.

I've been helping Mike with a platformer game he has to make for one of his classes as of late.  He does the coding, I do the character animations.  I want to make some of the world graphics, too, but I gotta get those from him first.

The character I decided upon is a lavender-blue cheetah chick, lol, whom Mike thinks is excessively girly.  Now, I can't animate on my own worth crap, so I shamelessly used poses of Emerl in Sonic Battle for the bases.  But... meh.  I consider it good practice.

They look better in the game, like when you really jump 'n stuff, but here's an animation of all the poses I've done so far.

Anybody got a name for this chick?
lunabuna: (starfox - girls? videogames? yarite)

Can anybody recommend to me a really fun strategy game that can tear me away from FFT?  Good god, it's so rediculously addicting! I don't even want to play WoW!

Mike's been playing Ogre Battle 64, but if you all have any recs, I'd like to look into other games, too.

lunabuna: (sonic - vector's music)
Oh my god, so many of my old classmates are on MySpace and Facebook... and... god...

I miss them so much, but because I was a shy little fruitcake in grade school, I'm pretty sure they aren't interested in what I'm doing, so I'm not messenging them or anything like I want to.  Yay, poor self image! *thumbs up*

Heh, this asian girl that I spent 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade with got accepted to Yale and graduated, and now she's in grad school.  She's always been wicked smart, and her essay entered into a county-wide contest on something-or-other won my 8th grade class an overnight "experience" on the Star of India in San Diego, which was paranoia galore for me, but also a huge bonding experience for the people I did it with... who also probably didn't notice I was there, but whatever.  I feel honored to have shared a GATE program with her, lol, even though I'm apparently not nearly as smart as she is.

...God, and so many of them are married and/or have children.  People MY age!  And it's not like they're being irresponsible, either, because we're... actually OLD enough to responsibly get married and have children.  I totally don't feel that old.  ... Oh god, I'm almost 24.  When I hit 24, I'm going to start crying about how I'm getting old and can't enjoy my post-21 era because I'm such a wimp.

...ROFL, so I try to convince myself that I wasn't that big a nerd in high school, but then I notice what kind of music I listen to.

...Aaaaand I was going to also try and convince myself that while I'm not the brightest bulb in the package, I do have some art talent that alot of peeps at Yale probably don't have.  To do so, I was going to post a picture I'm currently working on.  ........And then I can't because my server's not responding. *thumbs up*

lunabuna: (wolf's rain - what.. this? uh.. er... no)
Wolf's Rain has got to have the must gut-wrenching ending out of any TV show or OVA I've ever seen in my entire life.

EDIT: I felt I needed more of a commentary.

Well, as I told Mike after I watched the first 5 episodes (which he got me for Christmas <3)... they need a girl wolf. But I liked it up until that point and while it lagged a bit getting into the storyline at first, I enjoyed the series until the end. Sort of. I was bawling through episode 27 onward.

Hige and Blue are too cute. <3

I really couldn't stand Tsume's attitude nor his outfit (bleh, buttcrack FTL), but he redeemed himself at the end, in my eyes, by showing so much compassion. I couldn't understand Kiba's fascination with Cheza at first, either. But ToboƩ was SO. CUTE. Still... Hige comes in first on my favorites list because he's a hopeless romantic.

The ending leaves a lot open for interpretation, so I get to mull over what really happened. Woot.

For those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, take a few hours out of your day and watch some episodes off YouTube. Its setting is pretty depressing, but it has a good story and message to it.

I'll bet you this series spawned a bunch of Mary Sue fan characters. "LAWL LIEK MY CHARA LOOKS HYUUMAN BUT IS RLY A WOLF ISNT IT KEWL??"

I found this quite amusing!

Quantas Airlines Checklist:

After every flight, pilots complete a gripe sheet which conveys to the mechanics problems encountered with the aircraft during the flight that need repair or correction. The form is a piece of paper that the pilot completes and then the mechanics read and correct the problem. They then respond in writing on the lower half of the form what remedial action was taken and the pilot reviews the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humor.

Here are some actual logged maintenance complaints and problems, submitted by QANTAS pilots and the solution recorded by maintenance engineers. By the way, Qantas is the only major airline that has never had an accident.

KEY:

P = The problem logged by the pilot.
S = The solution and action taken by the mechanics.

Wow, my emotions are off the charts today. First totally hard-working and serious, then rediculously depressed, then pukeworthy amorous.  Maybe it's the prozac kicking in after four days of not taking it.  Horrible, horrible cramps will tend to make a person forget that sort of stuff.

Oh, I started on the 9th (monday) this month. I still gotta reference my period dates better and see if I notice a pattern.

Final Fantasy Tactics has been owning my soul since last weekend.  My main character's name is Mike (ninja/monk) and his priest/mediator buddy is Stephanie, mwahaha... but I needed more chars, so I brought in chars that I named after his sister (wizard/oracle) and my brother (samurai/ninja).  Still, not enough... so I named my fifth and sixth guys after Mike's best friend (bard/summoner) and [livejournal.com profile] coralyoshi (geomancer/chemist).  Now my team is INVEENCIBLE!

I want a Wii.

Social anxiety can bite me.

What is your opinion on each of the following?
Sonic the Hedgehog (character)? Was neutral when I'd only played the games. Hated him SOOOO BAD when I saw AoStH because of the way he treated Tails. Neutral again with StH. Leaning towards liking him after Sonic Adventure.
Miles "Tails" Prower?UNGF! <3 He entered the scene in the very awesome Sonic 2 and I was totally hooked.
Knuckles the Echidna? Also so, so, so much love.
Amy Rose?Meh... used to like her a lot, but with all the other female charas out there now and what she's become, meh... not too thrilled.
Cream the Rabbit?Cute! Not passionate about her or anything, but in general, I like her.
Shadow the Hedgehog (character)?Overrated. But, as of Archie ish #171 or so, I'm liking him a whole lot more. I don't think being evil suited him at all.
Rouge the Bat?Puke. I'd probably like her if they weren't all "LOLKNUX/ROUGE" all over the place.
Blaze the Cat?FRIGGIN COOL. Fav. Sega female chara evar.
Silver the Hedgehog?No opinion, I haven't played StH2006 yet.
Princess Elise?Ditto.
Mephiles?Ditto.
Big the Cat?Meh. Not too thrilled with him.
Espio the Chameleon?Used to adore him in Chaotix, not too happy with his tough-guy ninja rehash.
Charmy Bee?Neutral. Mostly only liked him in his super-awesome arc in Knux #13-15.
Vector the Crocodile? Not a fav, especially with his new "yo yo, homies" get-up.
Mighty the Armadillo?Loved, went neutral, then loved again. He totally won me over for life during his story about Sonic and Ray.
Ray the Flying Squirrel?LOOOOOVE. Dumped Sonic chars hold a special place in my heart.
Fang the Sniper?LOVE. Screw Rouge, why didn't they just keep him around?
Bean the Dynamite?Kinda love, but only because he's a dumped character.
Bark the Polar Bear?LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE. FAVORITE SONIC CHAR EVER. I fell in love with him the first time I saw him in Gamepro back in 1996.
Jet the Hawk?Pretty cool. I thought I'd like him more than I do, though.
Wave the Swallow?Meh, prob. my least fav out of the Babylon Rogues.
Storm the Albatross? Not too keen on his design, but I just always love playing as him in Riders.
Omochao?Die.
Christopher Thorndyke?Die. ...Well, not so much because he exists, but because the people who made Sonic X MADE him exist.
Cosmo? No pref, didn't watch Sonic X that far.
Sally Acorn?Liked her more in the TV show. Never really liked her that much to begin with, though.
Bunnie Rabbot? She's grown on me over the years. I think she's surpassed Dulcy.
Antoine D'Coolette?Used to hate him, ESPECIALLY in "Fed Up With Antoine" and "Ro-becca." A bit neutral now that he's sorta mellowed out a bit.
Rotor Walrus?Liked him in Season 1, didn't get enough screen time in Season 2 to keep my liking of him going.
Dulcy?Used to ADORE, sorta got bored with her over the years.
Mina Mongoose?Thought she had a cool design in Sonic #52, back when nobody knew who she was. But... as time passed... and Karl took over... I learned to associate bad writing with Mina... and so, she can go jump a cliff for all I care.
Fiona Fox?.......... depends on if I decide to take canon as canon or not. XD I guess I like the potential she had as a character and love interest for Tails, but it just got botched too much.
Julie-Su Echidna?Looooooooooove.
Tikal the Echidna?Sorta looooooove.
Chaos?Dun care. At all.
Dr. Eggman?Bleh.
Chao?CUTE. Best part of SA, I think.
The E-Series robots?Really couldn't care less.
Metal Sonic? He's alright, I guess. For a villain.
Manic Hedgehog?No pref.
Sonia Hedgehog?No pref.
Aleena Hedgehog?No pref.
Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog?Ians = awesome. Ken's = all right. Karl's = DIE.
Fleetway's Sonic the Comic?What I've seen, it's frickin' awesome!
Archie's Sonic X?Read one issue, yawned myself to death and forgot to subscribe. Oops... <_<
Recent games?Haven't really played any.
Classic games?OWN YOU.
Sonic X?Yawn.
Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM)?OWN YOU.
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (AoStH)?HATE. SONIC'S. ATTITUDE. HATE. ROBOTINK'S STUPIDITY.
Sonic Underground?No pref.
Sonic the Movie?Love.
Sonic/Amy?Meh.
Tails/Cosmo?Noooo... Tails/Fiona!
Shadow/Blaze?... why?
Knuckles/Rouge?NO!
Charmy/Cream?...wha?
Sonic/Blaze?No pref.
Amy/Blaze?Wha?
Tails/Cream?Cute.
Sonic/Knuckles?No thx.
Shadow/Maria?Maybe. I like how it is now, personally... or how it was... the non-romantic "you're the only friend I've got" love.
Sonic/Tails?... ew, no, he's his little/big bro!
Sonic/Sally?Sure, why not?
Shadow/Amy?Nah.
Knuckles/Julie-Su?YES, PLZ.
Vector/Espio?... why?
Knuckles/Amy?What?
Silver/Sonic?Where are you getting all this crap?
Big/Amy?WHY?
Knuckles/Tikal?Oh, see, that's believable.
Amy/Silver?Eh? I dunno.
Sonic/Elise?BAD MENTAL IMAGE...

THE TV KEYWORD MEME
• Go to IMDB.com and look up 10 of your favorite TV shows.
• Post three official IMDB "Plot Keywords" for these 10 picks.
• Have your friends guess the show names.

1. Death / Gay Character / Ensemble Cast
2. Title Spoken By Character (lmao, wtf?) / Sitcom / Janitor (this sucked cuz IMDb only had 6 keywords to choose from) (Scrubs - [livejournal.com profile] heathabear)
3. Boston, MA / Mail Carrier / Wooden Indian (that says it all, man.)
4. Acme Brand / Hollywood / Rabbit (dude, this one has sucky keywords) (Tiny Toons - [livejournal.com profile] heathabear)
5. Polluted City / War / Surrogate Family (Sonic the Hedgehog - [livejournal.com profile] scribbleschan)
6. Mad Scientist / Spacecraft / Princess
7. Sexual Tension / Cellular Phone / Cult TV (rofl, sheesh) (X-Files - [livejournal.com profile] heathabear)
8. Man Pretending To Be Gay / Based On British TV Series / Number In Title (Three's Company - [livejournal.com profile] heathabear)
9. Evolution / Tournament / Ball (Pokemon - [livejournal.com profile] chicobo329)
10. Bear / Based on Toy / Good Vs. Evil (poor selection of keywords again) (Care Bears - [livejournal.com profile] scribbleschan)

Good luck, y'all.

I think it's funny that I've either read or heard a lot about most of the books on this banned books list.

In grade school, I read 1984, Huck Finn, Brave New World, Bridge to Terabithia, Diary of Anne Frank, Fahrenheit 451, Farewell to Arms, Grapes of Wrath, Great Gatsby, Jabberwocky (good lord), and I think Where the Wild Things Are.

Some people... sheesh. If we ban books that show how racist or whatever we used to be, how the heck are we supposed to learn from it?  Covering it up doesn't make it go away.  This is another example of why I support PARENTING instead of, oh, MAKING EVERYONE ELSE SUFFER cuz your little brat mimics the gun shooting on the show he watches every time you plant him in front of the TV while you paint your nails.

... *snort* The INNAPROPRIATE TOPIC OF DEATH!! :O :O :O  God forbid we expose our kids to DEATH, and from natural causes or something tame like that, too.  Someone being dead isn't that big a deal. Them being dead and BLOODY and MANGLED... now that's bad.  But come on... someone dying in a hospital bed?  It's not that bad!

Radical conservatives really are the bane of my existence.
lunabuna: (nights - fly away)
I find it amazing how frickin' uninspired and unmotivated I've been as of late.  It's like almost all of my passion is gone.  Sometimes I wonder if I've somehow trained myself to give up before trying and without my knowledge.  I want to try, but I really. Frickin'. CAN'T. get myself to do what I want to/need to do.

I'm talking about my Psych classes.  I find them interesting, but I really just ... somehow don't care.  I want to care, very much so, but FARK.  STUDY. DO HOMEWORK. DO ANYTHING.  Why the hell can't I motivate myself?

Sometimes I wonder, but then I stop and think of what I really want, deep down.  I really want to be in art college perfecting my skills and learning to become a traditional animator.  That's what I really, really want.  I've wanted it since elementary school.  I guess with Mom giving me a hard time about finances, the idea of getting a student loan is becoming more and more likely.  I can't stand being in debt, which is why I avoided it in the first place.  But... I'm wondering if it's making me want to just go for broke and go to art college like I really want, and it's somehow affecting my performance in Psychology.

Psych is interesting, but I just have the instinct of an animator.  Bringing cartoon characters to life--ugh, so awesome.  I guess I joined Psych as a way to cheaply get my degree in a less artsy profession that could actually earn me decent money in the future.  But it's like... there's a reason why I didn't just become a Business major.  It's boring to me.  Psych is more interesting, but god, some of the stuff... BORING.  SO, SO BORING.  Stats... boring!  Research methods... boring!  Neuroscience... BORING.  I don't give a shit about this stuff.  I care about interpersonal and intrapersonal innerworkings.  What's fun about artwork is that you can express what you see in that sort of stuff while utilizing it as a creative outlet.

I'm pretty much angsting because I had a test today, and I tried to get myself to study for it, but damn.  I really wish I knew what was wrong.  The above paragraphs are all speculation, really.  I really don't want to flunk. I want to do well!  And I have the motivation to an extent, but... I just lack will power or something.  Another reason why I think art college would work well for me.  Drawing doesn't take will power.  Heck, I draw when I'm supposed to be studying.

Goddang Psych, I mean, SHEESH.  "What symbol do we use to calculate blah blah blah in a blah test?"  WHO CARES? It's all written down for us anyway!  Why do we have to memorize all that shit?  Why do we have to memorize ONE STINKIN' SENTENCE in a book out of... god.... 5 chapters, which are about 30 pages each... you do the math!  That's such bull!  If I did get a job in psych (social worker, woot), I'm not going to have to constantly go back to THIS ONE STINKIN' BOOK to quote ONE GENERIC SENTENCE for any given situation!

Teach me how to draw perspective... heh... that's something I can use.

NiGHTS sequel.... it's not a dream? It's really happening? After a decade of being a total NiGHTS whore?

I could cry right here and now.
lunabuna: (sonic - sonic2 tails)

May it be known that Mike and I drove up to Irvine Tuesday night, slept in, then made the rest of the trip to Six Flags on Wednesday.  Had FUN, though it should be noted that Deja-Vu was closed AGAIN, Superman broke down AGAIN, and Tatsu KICKS ASS.  If you live in So. Cal. and like roller coasters, Tatsu is the shiznit. Go ride it.

Oh, and they had a carnival booth or two up and about that had Sonic plushies.  I spazzed.  Mike was embarrassed to be with me.  He cursed the fates that he came with me, lol.  Nah, I kid.  I was going bonkers, though.  So he tried to win one for me.  Well, we tried, but didn't win anything, so we thought we'd pareuse the stores.  Frick, they had SPONGEBOB stuff, but not Sonic? WTF? But among their endless supply of Looney Tunes and DC Comics merchandise, there was this holy temple display of cool Nintendo/Simpsons/Family Guy merchandise.  Alas, no Sonic, but still, NINTENDO. SWEET.

They had this bright green Link shirt, and Mike loooooooooves likes LoZ, so I paid for half of it for him.  Now he has his very first FLUORESCENT BRIGHT ZOMG MY EYES green-colored shirt.  Yay!  And it's unique, too. I haven't seen a shirt like that before or since, but then again, it's only been a few days.

Soooo... we walked the park some more, failed to find any Sonic stuff for sale.  I was sad. Mike felt bad for me.  So, while we were hopping from ride to ride, we circled the park and came back to the first carnival booth, and Mike won me ... heeee... not just a prize, but a MEDIUM SIZED prize, which is actually pretty damn big, and considering the type of carnival game, pretty miraculous.  I got a stuffed Knuckles and it's HUGE! :D  But I wanted a stuffed Tails (all they had was Tails for a small prize), so we took another shot, and I got one of those, too!! HOLY SHIT.

Then Steph lived happily ever after.

We were going to bring a camera and take more pictures of the two of us together, but both Mike and I forgot our cameras.  Oh well... some other time.

Below: No brag, just SQUEE!

Knux sez: CLEAN YO' COUCH, BITCH.

Oh, and back to LoZ... for the past few weekends and majority of this week (Spring break), Mike and I have been reliving our childhood through NES games.  So far we've played Mario 1, Mario 3, TMNT: The Arcade Game, and... uh... oh yeah, Mega Man 3 all the way through.  We're currently in the process of beating Legend of Zelda, which I've never played, and plan on playing Mega Man 2, LoZ: Link to the Past, and SMB 2 pretty soon.  I never thought such primative graphics could entertain me so much!  ........ Well, yes I did, because they used to and still do... but still!  NES graphics engine FTW.

[Poll #953822]
lunabuna: (tenchi - washuu GRR)
I went and saw TMNT with Mike last night.  I'd love to say that I really enjoyed it, but I didn't--not because the company was bad (my company, anyway), but because of these key factors:

- kids. So many DAMN kids screaming (kinda) and chattering and stating the obvious and ARGH, SHUT UP.  Next time, I'm going after 10pm so I don't have to put up with that bull.  Can't stand kids, really.

- Don got the shaft big time as far as character development and screentime go. I love Don. :(

- April = IMVU avatar.

- April/Casey ...... dun buy it. The script gave me no reason to believe they were really together except for them saying so (i.e. if someone was watching the movie in a foreign language, the only sign you'd get that they were an item is at the end of the movie, and even THAT felt contrived.)

- April ...... a ninja, and a BETTER ninja than ALL those foot soldiers? Gimme a frickin' break.  But I haven't really read the comics (I have one out of, what, 100s?), so maybe she DOES become a psycho good ninja.  I don't believe it, though.

- Michaelangelo's only purpose, pretty much, was comic relief.  Come on... he's more than that, and he's NOT as stupid as they played him.  At least in the first movie, he had enough character to shed a tear for Splinter.  And his jokes were actually FUNNY.

- Um... monsters? WHERE did all the monsters come from, WHY were they suddenly all in NYC, and HOW COME they were only NOW wreaking havoc and not, say, for the past few millenia?  Did I miss it, or did they just not touch on those topics at all?  Oh, and how does gathering monsters = closing dimentional portal?

- Winters = Mr. Incredible. I SWEAR, if you go see the movie, LOOK.

What really gets me is that they gave Raph and Leo SO much screentime and Mike and Don SO LITTLE.  Aren't they a team? Am I mistaken in thinking they're all equals, save Leo being the leader?  Am I wrong to think they all have something to contribute to the team?

Oh, and the whole thing seemed rushed. Proof-reading is your friend, kids.  And... reusing old lines from previous movies? Good idea, poorly executed, IMO.  "And I thought insurance salesmen were pushy." > "And I thought girl scouts were pushy."  I have never known ANY girl scouts that were pushy.  It would've been better had the line been left in tact.  At least they'd be reusing a line I actually LIKED.  But then again, they weren't exactly writing the film for me, so...

The "high sticking" comment? Applicable in the context used in the first movie. SOUNDS STUPID in the context it was used in in this movie.

Overall, disappointment.  I think I would've liked it better under different circumstances, though.  I'm considering going to see it again, and WITHOUT the obnoxious kids this time.  They had me so strung out that I was just miffed about everything.

Oh, the animation was good.  Good lighting, good texturing, fluid movements, only a few lipsynching issues.

EDIT: WTF?? Why were nunchucks not allowed on television in the UK in the 90s?? That sounds absolutely rediculous to me.

EDIT #2: WTF!!! Ninjas are taboo in the UK? Why??

The Everything Test

There are many different types of tests on the internet today. Personality tests, purity tests, stereotype tests, political tests. But now, there is one test to rule them all.

Traditionally, online tests would ask certain questions about your musical tastes or clothing for a stereotype, your experiences for a purity test, or deep questions for a personality test. We're turning that upside down - all the questions affect all the results, and we've got some innovative results too! Enjoy :-)

Personality
You are more emotional than logical, more concerned about others than concerned about self, more atheist than religious, more loner than dependent, more lazy than workaholic, more rebel than traditional, more engineering mind than artistic mind, more idealist than cynical, more follower than leader, and more introverted than extroverted.

As for specific personality traits, you are adventurious (100%), romantic (71%), intellectual (59%), artistic (56%).

Stereotypes
College Student82%
Old Geezer67%
Prep54%

Life Experience

Your political views would best be described as Liberal, whom you agree with around 61% of the time.
 Socioeconomic
Your attitude toward life best associates you with Middle Class. You make more than 0% of those who have taken this test, and 77% less than the U.S. average.

If your life was a movie, it would be rated PG.
By the way, your hottness rank is 0%, hotter than 0% of other test takers.

I think I'm more artistically minded than engineering minded. And rofl, wtf, 100% adventurous? I'd like to know where they got that idea. Other than that, I'd say it's quite accurate. Liberals for the win!

Whoa Nelly, I just had the craziest dream evar.

I dreamt I was in New York, and there was a cable car transport whose cable was so old that it was starting to sag a bit... and when a car went by, it ran into a crane, which tipped over and caused this big domino effect where the car crashed, buildings fell on top of each other, and general havoc ensued.

I witnessed the first occurance, but then it just kept happening over and over again.  I musta been lucid dreaming because I decided I wanted to fly, so I flew up to the crane to try to prevent it from happening again, but I was always too slow.  After a few tries, I decided flapping my arms to fly was too tiring, so now I'd just float.

After deciding the time loop I was stuck in left me too little time to prevent it from happening, I instead went and tried to save my loved ones in the buildings that toppled.  We were too slow and stuff eventually fell on us, but such that we'd avoid getting smushed by holes in the ceiling landing on us instead of the actual concrete ceiling, if that makes any sense.

Then my dream shifted and some people and I were stuck on an elevator in a really tall building, going from random floor number to random floor number, probably running from something, I dunno.

Theeeeen I dreamt I was attending some class near San Pasqual High School, which is the high school I always seem to dream about, not my own or the other in our city.  I remember parking my car, and upon arriving at the study group, discovering that they were handing out prizes for people for attending.  I was like... woo, big woop.  One of the boxes contained a 6-piece set of bras, rofl, in rainbow colors.  But then the last box they handed out contained a bunch of Sonic stuff, like a calendar and Sonic aprin (wtf) and games.

I was lucky enough to get the Sonic one, so I was thrilled, rofl.  There was another guy in the room who was also a Sonic fan and got all excited, too.  After I got bored, I decided to take off, and that guy followed me.  He was like, "You like Sonic, too?" and gave me a kiss.  It was... freaky, lol.  There were two trading cards in the box, so I gave him one to be nice.

Then, at my car, I got recruited to help build a house across the street.  I was like... uhhh, how the heck am I supposed to know what to do?  But all the other volunteers seemed to know, most of whom were college girls, lol, so I just went along with it all.  We built that thing hella fast.  It looked like something outta Trading Spaces, but it had 6 stories and a ton of rooms and bathrooms.

The end.

Dreams are frickin' weird. Dude, I need a dream icon.  ROFL, hell, I'll just use one I never use.

Haha, I love Kyle. Redheads win at life.

Holy crap, I've been so busy with school this week, and it's tiring me out.  I had a research proposal due Tuesday, which I stayed up all night working on on Monday. Then I discovered I had a test later on Tuesday, so I had to cram super-fast between classes.  Wednesday I could barely stay awake in French, but I sorta woke up when the teacher asked me what animal I'd like to be, and when I told her a cheetah, she thought I said chimpanzee, so that was pretty embarrassing.

Then after class today, I slept until 6.  Now I can't sleep.  There's irony in there somewhere, I know it.

Cramps started on Tuesday last week, in case I wanna reference this post, I'll be able to chart my cycles.

I had a lot of weird dreams last night/today, so I'm feeling pretty amorous and can't wait for Mike to come down.  First dream was about, like, a lazer tag fight between me and all my old classmates.  Second one was about me and the neighbor kids dressing up in disguises to evade some evil bad guy, and the third dream involved my extended family on a houseboat on the edge of the world or something.

So now, naturally, I'm missing each of these groups of people and wondering what they've been up to.

Oh, and mom wants me to sorta get my social phobia fixed.  I don't see that happening, but it's worth a try.  When I can remember being afraid of people since I was 4, that's... kind of a sign that it's more deeply rooted than one would hope.

Sex is still painful.  I have to go in to get a proper annual soon.  I really hope I don't have some sort of abrasion in there that won't heal.  Cuz... man, it STINGS.

Also-- Zach Braff is my celebrity boyfriend.

The Sonnet
Deliberate Gentle Love Dreamer (DGLDf)

Romantic, hopeful, and composed. You are the Sonnet. Get it? Composed?

Sonnets want Love and have high ideals about it. They're conscientious people, caring & careful. You yourself have deep convictions, and you devote a lot of thought to romance and what it should be. This will frighten away most potential mates, but that's okay, because you're very choosy with your affections anyway. You'd absolutely refuse to date someone dumber than you, for instance.

Your exact opposite:
Genghis Khunt

Random Brutal Sex Master
Lovers who share your idealized perspective, or who are at least willing to totally throw themselves into a relationship, will be very, very happy with you. And you with them. You're already selfless and compassionate, and with the right partner, there's no doubt you can be sensual, even adventurously so.

You probably have lots of female friends, and they have a special soft spot for you. Babies do, too, at the tippy-top of their baby skulls.

ALWAYS AVOID: The 5-Night Stand, The False Messiah, The Hornivore, The Last Man on Earth

I have been neglecting my LJ, mostly because alot of the people whose LJs I was watching stopped updating.  Also, you kinda get tired of talking about something once you feel better about it, and Mike has been my crying shoulder well enough that I don't feel the need to post about it here.

But Mike's at tennis or something right now and isn't available, so back to LJ I go.

Y'know, over Winter break, Mike and I had some issues we had to deal with.  I chalk it up to insecurity and failure to communicate, for the most part, on both our ends.  Typical stuff you go through when you love somebody.  But the way we acted around each other when we were fighting made my mom worry that I was getting into a potentially abusive relationship.  I thought it was feasible at first because... well, I'm dense like that and need people to point out some things to me.

She gave me a book to read called "Shattered Dreams" about a lady who married a guy who turned out to be physically and emotionally abusive and what she had to go through during their marriage.  I'm almost done with it, and I think it's really helped me put things into perspective better than anyone else could by just telling them about it.

And... well, it's like, the more I read, the more Mike seemed LESS controlling.  I can see how someone might piece his reactions together to be sorta controlling, but... meh, I think half of it is my perspective on things.  But... hell, he is NOTHING like the guy in that book.  Mike gets unhappy about stuff, mostly when we're misunderstanding each other, but... man, John, the name of the guy in the book, goes frickin' nuts.  He uses demeaning language and long, painful silences to manipulate this poor lady.  Mike's not like that at all.  Mike wants us to work things out together, to clarify what we're not getting, and he never pins all the blame on me.  Hell, he doesn't even really pin blame, period.

Blah blah blah, anyway... I was cleaning up the dishes tonight after dinner, and there was a used ziploc bag in the sink.  I did what mom used to do when we had wet, drippy ziploc bags-- I hung it on the faucet.  That way the water doesn't drip into the crevices on our counter and make a mess, and we can clean it later and reuse it.  Well, Robert did NOT like that.  He squawked at me about why I'd do that. I told him why.  He told me I shouldn't be putting it on the place where we get our fresh water. ... Uh... yeah. I asked him where I should put it, and he nastily told me to "put it in [my] room."

I don't think Mom liked him saying that, cuz she tsk'd or something, I forget.  But I was ready to tear up and retreated to my room before that could happen in his presence.

And... y'know, it's like... I wouldn't really have thought Robert to be abusive, but he sure fits the bill of this abusive guy in the book better than Mike does.  I don't have to avoid Mike out of fear of ticking him off and getting crap from him like I got from Robert.  I don't have to wait until he goes to bed to fix something (i.e. the internet. Why the HECK does he unplug it?? What's the point?).  I can talk to Mike openly.  I gotta watch most of what I say around Robert to avoid his harsh criticism in the case that he's in a bad mood.  Flying fuck, Mike is actually NICE to me if I screw up.

I don't like having to hide in my room. It's not fun.  I prefer to stay in my room, but hiding... that's lame.
