Anybody have any recommendations for genuinely scary movies?

I can only think of 4 that scared me shitless. The Amityville Horror (the 70s version), Blair Witch Project, The Ring, and Paranormal Activity. Those slashers, like "The Hills Have Eyes" and "Saw" and all those other "horror" movies don't do it for me. It's just a bunch of blood and gore. I want, like, genuinely "HOH MY GOD SCARY" movies. Not movies that startle you, but ones that scare you to the core. Movies where less is more.

Any recommendations?

EDIT: ABBBEEHHHHHH. (Yeah, still watching The Ring.) She's cute in whatever roll she plays, I swear.

A little late, for certain...

Recommendations, though may be subject to taste:

The Shining (Original Kubrick version)
The Exorcist (Original William Friedkin version)
Jaws
Jacob's Ladder
Night of the Living Dead (original 1960's George A. Romero gloriously black and white version, and not one remake, revision, or recoloring)
Shaun of the Dead (a romantic comedy, for certain, but classically horror by the climax)
The Omen (remake... original's a bit slow IMO)
(mayyyyyybe) Rosemary's Baby

Though I find the scariest experiences I've had entertainment-wise were video games: the Resident Evil remake for Gamecube, Resident Evil 4, and Silent Hill 2, with the last one being very psychologically scary, or at least unsettling.
